Paddy's Plan Came Together at the AvD-Histo-Tour 2026

The preparation to the AvD Histo-Tour 2026 was overshadowed by some terrible news. Due to changes at Zolder, the organisers had decided not to hold the event there this year. Instead, the AvD Histo-Tour will be staged at Spa twice! Well, Paddy, what could be better than spending an hour at Spa? Two hours, of course! Paddy was highly motivated.
Paddy spent a long time painstakingly analysing last year’s results in preparation. He evaluated all the GLPs and track tests, worked through the points system several times and spent hours drawing up a plan for the 2026 edition. And then, during a track day, he and his navigator decided to simply enjoy the racetrack and put the tasks aside. Thanks to his research, Paddy concluded that the racetrack scores would only marginally affect the overall result, and that he could still be competitive. What could possibly go wrong?
Unshackled from his tactical constraints, Paddy set off at full throttle. The V6 engine roared and the Alfa Romeo sped through the corners of the track as if on rails. Paddy achieved one personal best after another and had a great time. In the end, he lost only a few points on the race track. Seven laps at Spa cost him roughly the same as a minor slip-up in a GLP. All the fun he had on the racetrack only had a minor impact on the overall result.
On Day 1, Paddy was well behind Thorsten and Jens in second place, but comfortably ahead of the rest. On the second day, he beat Thorsten and Jens several times by a small difference, but lost by a larger margin on other occasions. Overall, he was unable to catch up with them, and the gap actually widened. On the third day, Paddy concentrated to secure the second place. Finishing second behind Thorsten and Jens felt like a victory in itself. Congratulations to them both! For once, Paddy was ambitious and not rubbish.
